Buck Harrow comes from the kind of family where stories are never really finished. Somebody always remembers one more detail, somebody else insists that is not how it happened, and eventually the whole thing becomes much funnier than it was at the time.

That atmosphere found its way into his writing. Harrow likes ordinary situations that go badly in very specific ways: funerals, family gatherings, misunderstandings, terrible decisions made with confidence, and moments when dignity leaves the room before anybody else does.

He spent years working ordinary jobs alongside people who were anything but ordinary, and he has been quietly collecting material ever since. He is a dedicated people-watcher, a fan of long stories told over dinner, and almost certainly the relative who remembers the part everyone else hoped would be forgotten.
