About the Author

Dale Cristal

Dale Cristal spent much of her early adulthood doing what made sense on paper. Work, responsibilities, routines, plans. Over time, she became more interested in what happens when a person looks at a perfectly reasonable life and realizes it no longer feels like theirs.

That question shows up often in her fiction. Cristal writes about people changing direction without a map, carrying private lives alongside public ones, and discovering that starting over is rarely as clean or dramatic as it looks from the outside.

She has lived in several places and worked in both customer-facing and office settings, experiences that gave her plenty of time to notice how differently people present themselves depending on who is in the room. Away from writing, she enjoys secondhand shops, old photographs, road trips, and rearranging rooms long after everyone else thought they were finished.
